Location: Flexible (Hybrid or Remote) | Team: Engineering | Reports to: CTO
About the Role:
Trio Health is seeking an Engineering Manager who can operate as a true player-coach with a 75/25 management-to-coding split. You’ll lead a team of engineers while remaining close to the work through code reviews, requirements gathering, coordination, and technical guidance. This role is ideal for someone who leads through influence, empowers others, and thrives in high-autonomy and high-ambiguity environments. You’ll also partner closely with stakeholders to translate product and data requirements into clear engineering plans, specs, and JIRA stories.

Your Impact:
Your leadership will help scale engineering delivery while improving execution, alignment, and clarity across teams.
Your work will:
- Provide leadership to a growing engineering team (5–20) through mentorship, coordination, and empowerment
- Foster collaboration with Product, Data, and business stakeholders to define and translate requirements into actionable plans
- Provide process, structure and guidance in a scaling organization
- Drive alignment with OKRs, career development, and performance feedback
- Support 0–1 product delivery, rapid iteration, and long-term scalability
- Help operationalize impactful AI/ML productivity tools where useful
What You’ll Do:
- Manage day-to-day execution and delivery across engineering projects
- Write/review technical specs, user stories, and JIRA tickets that reflect stakeholder needs
- Facilitate sprint planning, prioritization, and communication across teams
- Conduct code reviews and ensure engineering standards are upheld
- Provide feedback, mentorship, and career guidance to engineers
- Partner with Product to define scope, roadmap alignment, and tradeoff decisions
- Contribute to coding, architecture discussions, or prototyping as needed
- Support scaling efforts from early-stage buildout to mature team structures
- Guide adoption of cloud and data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure or AWS
Your Superpowers:
- Experience managing engineering teams of 5–20
- Proven ability to operate as a player-coach (leadership + hands-on)
- Strong communication skills for translating requirements into execution
- Familiarity with Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, AWS, or similar cloud ecosystems
- Comfortable working in high-autonomy, high-ambiguity startup environments
- Ability to lead through influence and take a servant leadership approach
- Experience partnering with product teams or acting in a Technical Product Owner capacity
- Confidence navigating OKRs, feedback cycles, and career development
- Experience implementing and using appropriate engineering metrics to inform effectiveness and productivity, such as Developer Satisfaction, time to deploy, time to fix and more
Bonus Points If You:
- Have exposure to LLMs, AI developer tools, or Python-based NLP workflows
- Demonstrate practical AI/ML integration without hype
- Have experience scaling teams and processes from early-stage to growth
- Have written or overseen specs, epics, and stakeholder-facing plans
- Can present technical progress to business, product, or executive stakeholders
- Have led teams building data-driven products or platform capabilities
Team, Culture & Work Style:
At Trio, you’ll join a tight-knit team of 11 engineers working across data, applications, and infrastructure. You’ll have the opportunity to step into a leadership role, helping us scale applications that directly impact patient care.
Salary Range: $160,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year

- Final Conversation – A closing discussion with our CTO and leadership team about the role, mission, and long-term growth opportunities
- We aim to keep the process focused and candidate friendly. Most candidates move from first conversation to decision within 3–4 weeks
