Job description:

Director of Data Operations

Location: Flexible (Hybrid or Remote) | Team: Data Operations | Reports to: CTO

About the Role:

Trio Health is seeking a Director of Data Operations to lead our clinical and medical data ecosystem from end to end. You will oversee data onboarding, processing, quality, documentation, and delivery while managing a data operations team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-autonomy, high-ambiguity environments and leads through clarity, structure, and influence. You’ll partner across Clinical, Product, Analytics, Sales, and Business functions to turn clinical and operational requirements into scalable data processes and documentation.

Who We Are:

Trio Health is a healthcare technology and analytics company that partners with clinical experts and leverages Electronic Health Record (EHR) data to transform patient care. Our proprietary platform empowers Life Sciences stakeholders and Channel Partners with curated insights across the patient journey. By combining robust data operations with deep healthcare expertise, we accelerate research, improve outcomes, and unlock new possibilities for patients.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide clients with operational updates, timelines, and data outputs as technical experts, without managing engagement, escalations, or account strategy.
  • Participate in client discussions to clarify data requirements and explain deliverables, while the account team retains ownership of relationship management and ongoing communication.
  • Own data operations workflows end to end, including onboarding, staging, processing, delivery, and quality monitoring.
  • Drive data quality strategy and maintain dashboards used by technical and business stakeholders.
  • Translate clinical and business requirements into clear technical documentation, data rules, and data dictionaries.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering discussions across Clinical, Sales, Product, and Analytics teams.
  • Manage the creation and upkeep of documentation, including central data dictionaries and rule repositories.
  • Strengthen operational resiliency and improve processes as Trio scales.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives that require clinical, RWD/RWE, or medical data expertise.
  • Ensure alignment, transparency, and consistent communication around data operations priorities and workflows.

Your Superpowers:

  • Experience managing data operations or clinical data teams in dynamic, high-autonomy environments.
  • Strong ability to drive large, cross-functional data projects end to end.
  • Deep expertise with clinical and medical datasets (EHR, RWD/RWE, diagnosis/lab coding, unstructured notes).
  • Proficiency with Snowflake, SQL, Python, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and technical documentation tools.
  • Clear communication skills for translating technical topics to non-technical leaders and clients.
  • Strategic and operational thinking—balancing long-term direction with day-to-day execution.
  • Strength in creating structure, documentation, and alignment in evolving environments.

Bonus Points If You:

  • Have experience in Sales Operations, Data Strategy, or Business Technology.
  • Have worked with NLP/ML workflows or unstructured clinical notes.
  • Have built data governance, data quality frameworks, or cross-functional documentation systems.
  • Have supported or led data-driven product initiatives.
  • Are comfortable presenting data operations work to business, product, and executive audiences.
  • Have experience scaling teams and processes from early-stage to growth.

Team, Culture & Work Style:

At Trio, you’ll join a collaborative team focused on high-quality data delivery and clinical insight generation. We value transparency, curiosity, accountability, and meaningful collaboration. This role allows you to lead high-impact work that directly influences patient care and life sciences decision-making.

Pay: $140,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year

What’s In It For You:

  • 401(k) with company matching
  • Dental, vision, and health insurance (FSA and HSA options)
  • Flexible spending account
  • Paid time off
  • Competitive compensation & comprehensive benefits package

What Happens Next:

We genuinely appreciate your interest in joining Trio. Our process is designed to be transparent and efficient, and we aim to review every application promptly. If you don’t hear back immediately, it’s due to volume—not lack of interest.

Our Interview Process:

  • Recruiter Call – Intro conversation about your background and Trio
  • Technical/Data Interview – Deep dive into data operations, SQL/Python, data quality, clinical data, and documentation
  • Team Interview – Conversations with Data, Clinical, and Product stakeholders
  • Final Conversation – Discussion with leadership about role expectations, mission, and long-term opportunities

Most candidates move from first conversation to decision within 3–4 weeks.
